A man who stands accused of attempted murder has been given a nine-month jail term suspended for two years after he admitted to threatening a police inspector and resisting the police in the law courts building itself.

The incident happened on March 4 last year as Kevin Bugeja, 19 of Vittoriosa, was being arraigned to face attempted murder charges.

A scuffle involving Police Inspector Jesmond Borg took place as the accused was being escorted to the hall where the proceedings took place.
