A Briton has been handed a suspended jail term after admitting to stealing cash from a supermarket in St Paul's Bay, just down the road from his apartment.
Brian David Ciarlo’, 36, who described himself as “just stopped working,” was arrested shortly after the theft of some €200 from the shop at around 4.30am on Tuesday. It is understood that the cash was returned.
In court on Wednesday morning, he admitted his guilt and refused legal assistance.
Magistrate Grazio Mercieca imposed a six-month jail term suspended for two years.
