A 48 year-old man admitted in court today that he attempted violent sexual assault on a woman, but the judgment has been postponed pending a pre-sentencing report on his request.

Christopher Ellul, from Valletta, was also accused before Magistrate Charmain Galea with breaching public morals, and relapsing.

In his request Mr Ellul asked not to be assigned to his previous probation officer with whom he had clashed. The court accepted  his request.

The court issued a protection order for the victim, warning Mr Ellul that any breach could result in a fine of  €2,300 or six months imprisonment.

He was granted bail against personal guarantee of €2,000 and ordered to report to the police three times a week.

Lawyer Joe Ellis was legal aid while police inspector Darryl Borg prosecuted.
