Jesmond Cassar, 34, of St Paul's Bay, today admitted in court to setting fire to a house in Mqabba, commiting a series of seven burglaries, driving a car without a licence and committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended sentence.

The police presented stills from TV footage showing Mr Cassar commiting one of the crimes.

He was jailed for four years and three months.

MIGRANT ADMITS POSSESSION OF FALSE ID CARD

In a separate case Noah Adecoro, a Nigerian immigrant, was today jailed for six months after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of a false Italian identity card. Mr Adecoro told the court that he was trying to go to Italy to get a job because he could not find one in Malta.
