A 34-year-old man from Zurrieq was this morning acquitted of slightly injuring a driver who crashed into him in a car accident last year.

During the accident, on March 5, Vincent Azzopardi was driving a car which was involved in a collision with another car driven by Frankie Zahra in Main Street Sta Venera.

Taking the witness stand, Mr Azzopardi claimed that after crashing into Mr Zahra, the latter got out of his car, started swearing and shouting and hit him with an iron bar.

Mr Zahra, however, denied the allegations and said that Mr Azzopardi had been drunk and had already been injured when he came out of his car.

He said Mr Azzopardi started threatening him and his family and he denied ever hitting him.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna acquitted Mr Zahra on lack of evidence.
