An Englishman was today acquitted form seriously injuring a colleague during a staff party in October 2007.

Peter Roy Seed, 49, had been charged with injuring James Tony Hannan when he hit him in the face with a glass.

Magistrate Jacqueline Padovi found that Mr Seed had acted in self-defence, albeit excessive, but this was due to him being caught unaware or through fear or fright.

The two men were arguing on the money they were earning from timeshare.
