The man accused of murdering his former girlfriend in Zebbiegh is back behind bars after being charged with breaching bail conditions.

Kenneth Gafa, 41 of Qormi, stands accused of fatally shooting Christine Sammut while she waited in her van in December 2010.

During today's arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to having, on Sunday-Monday night, failed to return home before 10 p.m. and stay there until 6 am.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli remanded him in custody.

He had been granted bail in August 2012 after his ninth attempt.
