Philip Camilleri, 55 of Qrendi, was accused in court today of having set fire to an elderly woman's home yesterday.

The court head that he set fire to the place in Qrendi after getting angry because he found nothing to steal.

The blaze caused extensive damage.

The resident, 75-year-old Maria Pace, was out at the time.

Camilleri pleaded not guilty  and he was remanded in custody at Mt Carmel Hospital after the court accepted a defence request for a psychiatric examination.
