A 34-year-old man from Valletta was arraigned today and pleaded not guilty to having, on September 15, 2010, been an accomplice in a hold-up in which €60,000 were stolen.

Police Inspector Michael Mallia told the court that the accused used to work in a restaurant and he had assisted another person, David Mifsud, to carry out a hold-up on his employer.

CCTV and phone records showed that the accused had tipped off Mifsud that his employer, Dorette Tedesco had left the restaurant, carrying the money.

Her car was later stopped and the hold-up took place. Mifsud was caught, arraigned and imprisoned.

The accused was granted bail. His name cannot be mentioned by court order because of further investigations.
