Joseph Dimech, 44 of Birkirkara, was accused in court today of damaging the door of Dar Merhba Bik - the Balzan shelter for women who would have left their marital home.

He was also accused of violently resisting and slightly injuring three policemen, swearing in public and relapsing.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail against a deposit of €200 and a personal guarantee of €5000.
