A man became aggressive with the police who turned up at his house to investigate a report of domestic violence, a court heard yesterday.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli heard the 34-year-old man from Luqa plead not guilty to assaulting two police officers, threatening them, slightly injuring one of them and disobeying them. He was further charged with assaulting his wife and her brother, threatening his wife, uttering obscene language in public and breaching the peace.

He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 after the prosecution did not object to the granting of bail.

Police Inspector Paula Ciantar prosecuted. Lawyers Alfred Abela and Mario Mifsud appeared for the man.
