A 31-year-old man who allegedly assaulted a police inspector and two sergeants, was granted bail after arraignment today, against a personal guarantee of €10,000.

Anton Agius, of Zebbug, was accused of having assaulted and resisted the officers an incident which started in Parish Street, Zebbug, and continued at police headquarters in the early hours of this morning.

He was also accused of threatening the policemen, unlawfully carried a firearm and violated the conditions of a previous court sentence.

Mr Agius pleaded not guilty.

Inspector M Mallia prosecuted.
