A 22-year-old man was charged with threatening his father and damaging his father’s car in Valletta on Easter Sunday.

Janis Caruana, from Valletta, pleaded not guilty to heroin possession, threatening his father, damaging his car, being in possession of a knife and causing his father to fear him.

He is also charged with breaching the peace, disobeying the police and relapsing.

Lawyer Abigail Bugeja, for Mr Caruana, requested bail, but Magistrate Doreen Clarke refused and ordered the accused to be remanded in police custody after noting that his criminal record showed he could not be trusted with observing bail conditions.

Police Inspector Daryl Borg prosecuted.
