The Medical Association of Malta (MAM) said today it had noted with satisfaction a 'positive statement' issued by the management of health centres, thanking health centre doctors for their service and declaring that there exists a policy governing home visits.
It said it was directing health centre doctors to continue to make home visits according to established policy and it was postponing proposed industrial action by one week during which it hoped the health centres management would explain this policy to the public.
The union had threatened industrial action after complaining that the authorities had not condemned verbal abuse of a doctor who could not go on house calls because of more urgent calls at a health centre.
