Maltese workers were being sidelined for lower paid foreign workers at Malta Freeport, Labour leader Joseph Muscat told a PL activity in Floriana..

The Labour leader also renewed his criticism for the way the contract for the Delimara power station extension was awarded, saying it was being attacked by experts, environmentalists, and even quarters within the PN, such as Michael Falzon, because the contract involved old technology equipment and Malta could end up paying penalties for emissions.

Dr Muscat said the Prime Minister had promised everything to everybody before the general elections, and now he had lost credibility with everyone. Among those who were misled were the bus owners, the GO employees, teachers, the dockyard workers, nurses and doctors. Dr Gonzi had even admitted that neither BirdLife nor the hunters were believing him.

Dr Muscat said the Prime Minister was no longer boasting of job creation, but he was instead boasting about the number of pensioners who continued to work, when they were only continuing to do so because of the cost of living.

Dr Gonzi had lost control over his colleagues and the running of the country and as result, inflation had galloped and unemployment had risen.

Dr Muscat said people who had voted PN and felt let down should vote PL, rather than not vote at all in the EP elections. The PL, he said, was the natural home of all the Maltese.
