Update 2 -Kevin Moore handed Team Malta its first gold medal of the Luxembourg Small Nations' Gamers after he cruised to victory in the 400m final at the Josy Barthel Stadium this afternoon.
The Maltese sprinter took control right from the outset and breezed home first in 47.53 seconds.
Ivar Jasonarson, of Iceland took silver ahead of his compatriot Kolbeinn Gunnarsson (48.21).
Swimmer Chetcuti takes silver
Andrew Chetcuti earned his second silver medal after placing second in the 50 metres freestyle final. The 20-year-old completed the one-lap race in 23.50 seconds, a mere 0.05 seconds behind gold medallist Alexandre Bakhtiarov. Omiros Zagkas, of Cyprus, was third in 23.54 seconds.
Silver in table tennis
Viktoria Lucenkova and Peng Fei won their second silver medal after placing second in the doubles competition.The Maltese duo registered identical 3-0 victories over Monaco, San Marino and Iceland but were beaten by Luxembourg who claimed gold.
More judo medals
Malta's men's team, composed of Jeremy Saywell, Murman Korchilava and Isaac Bezzina came agonisingly close to giving Team Malta gold when they lost a close final against hosts Luxembourg in the men’s team competition final to claim silver at the Tramschapp gym.
The Maltese trio had reached the final of the competition after an impressive 3-0 victory over Cyprus and then stunned gold medal favourites Iceland 2-1 in the semi-finals.
In the final Jeremy Saywell had put the Maltese on their way after winning his bout but Korchilava lost his match to send the match to a decider. Here Isaac Bezzina put up a stirring fight but was eventually beaten as the Maltese settled for silver.
Earlier, the Malta women's judo team also won a bronze medal.
The team, formed by Marcon Bezzina, Vanessa Fraser and Joanna Camilleri, was beaten by Luxembourg in the semis but bounced back with a 2-1 win over Liechtenstein.
Bezzina grabbed the decisive win for the Maltese.
