Helene Pellicano 12, triumphed in the Under-14 Girls Singles Draw in the 14th edition of the San Michel International Tennis Tournament held by Tennis Club Kordin.

The unseeded Maltese young player defeated the second seed Kateryna Zadorozhna of the Ukraine in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

Pellicano’s victory in the Girls' draw topped what was a strong performance during the past week by the Maltese contingent that took part in this Tournament.

In the Under-14 Boys Draw, the 10th seed Miguel Galea made it to the quarter-finals only losing to second seed Panagiotis Nearchou of Cyprus. 11th seed Maltese Liam Delicata lost in the third round to fifth seed Stefanos Savva, also of Cyprus. The final of the draw was won by 14th seed Briton Blu Baker who narrowly defeated unseeded Italian Erik De Santis in three sets 7-6(6), 2-6, 7-5.

With her win in the final, the promising Helene Pellicano advances 60 points in Tennis Europe’s Under-14 rankings. Miguel Galea and Liam Delicata advance 20 and 15 points respectively.
