A Maltese team lost 7-5 to a team representing Sweden in an U-19 friendly international at Apple Snooker Club, Bugibba, on Monday.

Douglas Appleberg and Christopher Koba played for Sweden. Both took part in the last World U-21 Snooker Championship.

Duncan Pisani, Thurston Grixti and Kevin Grech were in the Maltese team, each playing four frames against the two Swedish players.

The best performance came from Pisani. He beat Koba 2-0 (73-22, 56-10) and drew with Appleberg 1-1 (71-25, 42-76).

Grixti, the youngest player in the side, drew 1-1 with Koba (54-7, 23-59) and then he drew again with Appleberg 1-1 (38-63, 57-37).

Grech failed to win a single frame. He lost 0-2 to Koba (20-62, 41-87) and 0-2 to Appleberg (22-72, 17-75).
