A group of eight Maltese swimmers, four males and four females, have had their names submitted for the 13th World Championships starting later this month in Rome.

These are Andrea Agius, Neil Agius, Edward Caruana Dingli, Mark Sammut, Nicole Cremona, Melinda Sue Micallef, Davina Mangion and Talisa Pace, all forming part of the national squad under the guidance of coach Andy Colbourn.

Although stringent MQSs are not usually set for such an event, the Maltese swimmers will nevertheless have to attain certain levels.

The swimmers have been preparing hard to improve their performances and the latest National Championships, though an intermediary event in their build-up phase, proved to be very fruitful as they all broke several national relay and individual records.

In Rome, swimming starts on July 26 and ends on August 2.
