The music room at St James Cavalier, Valletta will be filled with the voices of two young, local singers, tomorrow. Maltese Soprano Francesca Aquilina will be performing a variety of various classical songs - ranging from the rare 'Three songs' by William Walton to the well-known aria '‘Comme autrefois’ from Bizet’s ‘The Pearl Fishers’. Sharing the concert with her is Scottish Tenor Ross Wilson who will perform and equally versatile programme from Quilter and Schumann to ‘Ciel e terra armi di sdegno’ from Handel’s ‘Tamerlano’. The programme consists of arias and art songs, as well as duets. The selection includes songs from various genres and which have been composed in a plethora of styles ranging from Baroque to Contemporary. Francesca and Ross shall be performing a number of pieces that they have worked on at Edinburgh Napier University throughout their degree, as well as a couple of new additions to their repertoire. This concert showcases local talent which has been taken to the next level- it sheds light on the potential of our young artists when they are being provided with professional training.
