Maltese international basketball referee Bernard Vassallo will be in action in Europe today after he was nominated to control the FIBA Euroleague Group D game between Famila Schio and Montpellier in Italy.

Both sides started this year's Euroleague competition with a defeat. France's Montpellier lost at home to Kosice (Czech Republic) 65-67 while Italians Schio succumbed to powerhouse Spartak Moscow 88-63 in Russia.

Vassallo and Gordon Barbara, the other Maltese international referee, will also be officiating a FIBA game today week.

Barbara will referee in Italy, together with Albanian Shefqet Bekteshi, for the Eurocup game between Taranto and Gospic (Slovenia).

Vassallo will be in Spain where he will be the main referee for the Eurocup game between hosts Leon and Panionios (Greece).

This game will be played at the Palazzo Municipal in Leon and Vassallo will be accompanied by Portuguese referee Fernando Rocha.
