Professor Joseph M. Brincat has received the Premio Santi Correnti for his contribution to the historical and comparative study of the Sicilian dialect.

At the University of Catania, Santi Correnti was professor of the History of Sicily, to which he devoted numerous books and articles and strove to include the history of Sicily as a subject in the schools’ timetable.

The other recipients were Gaetano Failla, Mario Foti, Donato Petti and Gaspare Sturzo (relative of Don Luigi Sturzo and member of the Anti-Mafia Commission in Rome).
