A photograph by Leonard Cocks of the Malta Photographic Society is among the top 20 chosen from 1,138 entries by photographers from all over Europe in a competition organised by the EU on the theme Cultures On My Streets.

The competition marking the European Year of International Dialogue was open to European residents.

Mr Cocks is the only Maltese in the last round of the competition.

His photo is entitled Afro-Chinese Encounter.

The public can register and vote online on www.street-cultures.eu/1342.0.html to choose the image for the Public's Favourite Award.

The online voting will run until August 8 and voters will take part in a draw for a pocket-size, high quality digital camera.

One can also log on multiple times.

In addition to the photographers selected for the Public's Favourite Award, a jury will select three winners to be announced at a Brussels award ceremony on September 25.
