People remained unaware of European decisions affecting them in Malta, Labour MEP Alfred Sant said today.

He said in a newsletter that the EU was facing several crisis situations, but that new decisions affecting Malta were still being taken.

"The problem is that most people are not aware of what is going on, and only get to know about things when they have already been decided and are about to be implemented in Malta.

“We should expect changes and developments in the areas of taxation, immigration, management of the Eurozone, financial services, environment, among others. I firmly believe that one of the main tasks of MEPs is to promote a greater public awareness of significant issues arising not only at the level of the European Parliament, but also at that of the EU as a whole.”
