The AFM's largest patrol boat, P61, is this evening taking 230 migrants to a Sicilian harbour after assisting in a rescue operation inside Libya's search and rescue region.

The rescue was part of the EU-mandated Operation Triton and also involved vessels of the Italian Navy.

The migrants were originally picked up by an Italian Navy boat and then transferred to the Maltese vessel. The migrants are in good health.
