The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.
Times of Malta says a Maltese businessman whose name appears in the Panama Papers leaks had business connections with the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Keith Schembri. In another story, it says Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi was yesterday urged to resign by former Prime Minister Alfred Sant in a move bound to create confusion among the Labour Party grassroots.
The Malta Independent says 676 companies included in the leaked documents of Mossack Fonseca are associated with an address in Malta. All have 277 shareholders in all. The companies associated with a Maltese address have 42 clients and 59 beneficiaries.
L-Orizzont says European sites were allowing blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia to damage Malta with an article on tax evasion.
In-Nazzjon leads with Dr Sant’s call for the resignation of Dr Mizzi. It also reports a Nationalist Party press conference regarding a request by the Nationalist Party to the courts to stop Transport Malta and the Planning Authority from removing its roadside billboards.
