The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.

Times of Malta says the board of directors of its mother company, Allied Newspapers Ltd’s, has launched an inquiry following “very serious allegations” made in public yesterday. In another story, it says UN experts have told the Security Council fuel smuggled from Libya is being transferred between ships on the high seas and brought to Malta.

L-Orizzont says that preparatory works on the tendering process for a tunnel between Malta and Gozo are underway.

The Malta Independent says the Prime Minister has admitted that good governance issues were steering attention away from the government’s work.

In-Nazzjon says the Prime Minister has continued to insist he will not take action against Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi if a tax audit did not find anything wrong.
