The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.

Times of Malta reports Prime Minister Joseph Muscat saying last night that if the Inland Revenue Commissioner were to find “millions” in Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi’s New Zealand trust and Panama company, Dr Mizzi would be removed forthwith. In another story, the newspaper says the financial authorities and the police are investigating an underground one-man banking operation in Żurrieq.

The Malta Independent says some 80 officers from the Veterinary Services went ahead with the culling of a herd of sheep in Gozo yesterday morning, despite a provisional court injunction being issued. It says the action was, however, halted after another court order stopped the process.

L-Orizzont reports unions saying that the recently registered growth of more than six per cent should be reflected in wages.

In-Nazzjon says that the new details which emerged about the Gaffarena scandal confirm that the Labour government is drowning in corruption.
