For the second year running the University's Foundation for International Studies (FIS) is organising a short course on aspects of the Maltese natural heritage.

The course gives an overview of local habitats and ecosystems such as steppe, garigue, maquis, woodland, cliff assemblages, rock pools, salt marshes, watercourses, sand dunes, major biota flora and fauna; native and alien species and its adaptations to living in a semi-arid Mediterranean climate.

It will also brief participants on geo-physical aspects of the Maltese islands, including soil types, rock strata present and their formation, climate patterns, and palaegeological history.

Anyone interested in attending may e-mail: alan.deidun@um.edu.mt or fiona.frendo@mus.com.mt.
