Some hands went away full of spoils, others less so after the Go Malta Music Awards on Saturday.

Veteran band Winter Moods swept the board with four awards in all, winning the titles for best band, best album for Argento and best song for My Neverland, while frontman Ivan Grech clinched the best composer award.

Doom metal outfit Nomad Son won the best metal band and international achievement awards, while Frenzy Mono, which is essentially Nomad Son without a bassist playing hard rock, won the prize for the best CD cover.

Red Electrick took best video award for their gangster-inspired Who the Heck is Rek?!, while the best new artiste title went to Mikaela.

Kristina Casolani and Aaron Benjamin walked away with the Best Female and Male Artiste Awards, while trance duo Tenishia were voted the best dance production with Stranger to Myself. Gozitan acoustic duo Chasing Pandora won the best image award, while the best website was the Knights-themed www.mementonostri.com.

The best Hip-Hop/RnB award went to Dimal featuring Maddee.

Meanwhile, London-based musician Jon Lukas received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while the Voices choir received a recognition.

Tenor Joseph Calleja was named artiste of the decade while ska veterans the Rifffs were awarded the Legends Award.

Anthony Costa from Blue and Lenny Zakatek from Alan Parsons Project performed during the ceremony, which was compered by Gianni and Sarah Agius. The event will be broadcast after the 8 o’ clock news on TVM next Saturday.
