I would like to share with readers something I’ve never seen before while watching the many lizards frequenting my garden over past 30 years. The first time I saw this particular lizard was on September 24, and again on October 11.

The photo above shows my friendly ‘two-tailed’ (female I believe) Maltese wall lizard, and puts to rest the old belief that two-tailed lizards only inhabited the islet of Filfla.

Lizards have a wide-ranging appetite and scavenge on many things besides ants and insects.

I think they would go for mosquitoes too, if they get the chance, but I wonder, as the area where I live has for the past few months been inundated with the ‘Asian Tiger’ mosquito’.

This mosquito is unusual, very persistent, constantly on attack mode and so irritating, not to mention the painful and very itchy sting it gives. This is not the normal mosquito we are used to.

I hope my six or seven friends in the garden do a better job and keep the ‘tigers’ away from me.
