A light aircraft owned by a Maltese company and used for pilot training crash-landed in Catania late this morning after developing a fault.

According to preliminary reports, the plane landed in a field close to an airstrip.

A spokesman for Falcon Alliance said no one was injured. The plane was not heavily damaged.
