Dr Aaron M. Bugeja, Senior Lawyer and Prosecutor in the Office of the Attorney General has been elected and been appointed Chairman of the Bureau of Committee of Experts on Terrorism of the Council of Europe (CODEXTER) for one year.

The CODEXTER is an inter-governmental committee of experts on terrorism and it coordinates the implementation of the Council of Europe's action against terrorism.  This is an inter-disciplinary committee whose participants' professional background includes judges, prosecutors, ambassadors, heads of counter-terrorism departments, as well as law professors and heads of security services, among others. 

This chairmanship confirms Malta's high reputation in such international fora and its constant commitment to counter organised crime and terrorist activities both on a local as well as on an international level, the AG's office said.
