A Maltese girl's rap video containing touching lyrics about heartbreak issues has gone viral on social media.

The black and white video by Shyli Cassar, certainly no name in the local music industry, has amassed more than 55,000 views on Facebook.

Shyli speaks about the heartbreak of losing her father aged two and the way her life went through a rollercoaster of emotions, including depression and bad habits.

However, her life changed with the help of a friend, prompting her to write the lyrics to a rap song to offer hope.

The video was lauded by Malta's Eurovision representative Ira Losco, who said that such raw talent should be encouraged and celebrated.
