The Maltese Embassy and Consulate in Tripoli have been rendered safe by an AFM team of EOD technicians.

The ordnance clearance personnel travelled to Libya yesterday, onboard the patrol vessel P-61.

On berthing in Tripoli harbour, the 3 Regiment personnel forming part of the EOD team of six, were welcomed by first secretary Nader Salem Rizzo.

The all clear  at the embassy was given earlier today, at the consulate this afternoon.

The P61 departed Tripoli at 4.30 p.m. with all the Maltese contingent onboard.

It also took the opportunity to facilitate the movement of a Libyan national suffering from a gunshot wound, who is to be transported to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The P-61 crew and the AFM EOD team are all in good health and looking forward to coming home.
