Students from Malta and other developed Commonwealth countries will from this year will be eligible for Commonwealth scholarships to study in the UK following a recent decision by the UK Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
Awards for students from developed countries will be for doctoral study only, and will be co-funded by UK universities.
Since the scholarships were introduced 50 years ago, over 16,000 persons have received awards to study in the UK, making the Commonwealth scholarships scheme one of the largest and prestigious of its kind in the world. Canada, India, Malaysia, New Zealand and South Africa also host scholars.
