Iż-Żona has now established itself firmly with youngsters and teens in the after-school television slot. With its mixture of culture, adventure, Maltese heritage and fantasy, it takes viewers young and old on a journey into the wonders of history, art and the natural world and provides an entertaining, yet educational point of view.

With a mixture of endearing characters, surprising mysteries and flights of fantasy, Iż-Żona is now back on TVM. An important part of the programme’s appeal is that it never rests on its laurels, instead constantly offering its audience new treats and surprises. And these surprises don’t come any bigger than this: in the coming months, the Żona team is joining forces with Heritage Malta to shine a revealing spotlight on Malta’s rich historical and cultural heritage. Żona Avventura, the latest addition to the programme’s ever-expanding range of features, adds an entirely new facet to the Żona universe, preserving the trademark Żona character but transporting it into a fresh context,

In Żona Avventura, Francesca, Wayne, Ronald and Luana - the familiar faces that children have grown to know and love - will take on the role of adventurers, visiting some of the most remarkable heritage sites in the country and delving deep within to uncover their secrets.

The features will take the Żona team to four captivating sites, each of which opens a window onto a different aspect of Malta’s heritage. At the Museum of Natural History in Mdina, our presenters explore the weird and wonderful mysteries of the natural world. Only a short hop away, at the Roman Domus in Rabat, they will wander amidst the ruins of a vanished past. At the Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta, they will marvel at the beauty of the world of art. Finally, a visit to the Malta Centre for Restoration at Bighi, Kalkara, will provide a glimpse of all the work that usually goes on unnoticed behind the scenes to preserve this heritage in the perfect condition we see it in.

Each location brings with it its own store of fascinating curiosities and unexpected discoveries, but these features are more than just a guided tour: no sooner has our team of young adventurers arrived on the scene than they realise that there is more going on than meets the eye. At each site they will discover a mystery to be solved, riddles to be deciphered, and clues to be uncovered. In order to get to the bottom of these mysteries, they will need to examine these museums and heritage sites from top to bottom, leaving no stone unturned and venturing into areas that are not usually open to the public.

Żona Avventura will offer viewers unprecedented access to these intriguing heritage sites, showing them as they have never been shown before, and adding another exciting and enriching element to the world of Iż-Żona.
