Two of the three Maltese climbers who made it to the summit of Mount Cho Oyu on September 24 returned to Malta today are all set and ready to start preparing for their Mount Everest challenge next year.

Gregory Attard and Marco Cremona were met by family, friends and the media at Malta International Airport.

Mr Attard said the fact that the 8,000 metre threshold has been surpassed gave him peace of mind.

Mr Cremona said he set a target for himself and he was extremely satisfied that he had achieved it.

Mr Attard, Mr Cremona and fellow climber Robert Gatt, who lives in London, now face six months of preparation to get ready to face their Everest challenge in March.

Their preparation will include climbing, endurance training and searching for sponsors.

The aim of the challenge is to promote awareness about asthma and better air quality in Malta through the Society of Maltese Asthmatics and the Stop the Dust! campaign.
