Local Church dignitaries gave a warm welcome to Mgr Charles Scicluna when he arrived in Malta from Rome today, two days after being named Auxiliary Bishop.

Mgr Scicluna was hugged by Archbishop Paul Cremona and greeted also by Archbishop Emeritus Mgr Guzeppi Mercieca and the Apostolic Nuncio, Mgr Tommaso Caputo.

He also got a warm welcome from his parents and his sister, who are now especially happy that he will be living here.

Mgr Scicluna promsied Mgr Cremona that he would dedicate his life to helping him and to serving the Church in Malta.

(Gozo Bishop Mario Grech is currently in Rome for the Synod of bishops, where he is representing the Maltese Episcopal Conference).
