The board of directors of the Maltese Canadian Professional Business Association (MCPBA) announced that the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Toronto has accepted the application of the Maltese Canadian Professional Business Association to become one of the members of the Chamber of Commerce.

"This is a great step forward for both the association and the Maltese-Canadian community," association president Charles Muscat said. "Our businesses can now be a part of the EU nations group. Growth comes from communications and networking with other business enterprises. This will not only bring success to the business but also to the community."

The MCPBA was set up in Toronto in 1996 and its primary objectives are to promote, establish and develop closer and stronger professional, economic and business relations between Malta and Canada.

The association also aims to create and sustain a forum for the generation and interchange of ideas and proposals for promoting professional and business activities between members and their counterparts in other Canadian communities for their mutual benefit.

Owners of businesses, managers in businesses, professionals and university students of Maltese origin are all eligible for membership in the MCPBA, which in turn is a member of the Maltese Canadian Federation.
