Young Maltese bowlers enjoyed great success at the International Youth Tournament in Wommelgem, Belgium, and they will be returning home with three medals.
Sara Xuereb topped the Schooler Age Group and contested the gold medal final against Beaudine Kriele, of the Netherlands.
Xuereb won Game 1 204-191.
But the Dutch girl managed to turn the final in her favour by winning game two 213-189 to secure the title after winning the match 404-393 as Xuereb had to settle with the silver medal.
Juliana Bonanno won a Bronze medal in the Seniors -25 category. Bonanno booked her place in the Final Step 1 when she managed a combined score of 1,099 in the preliminary round.
The Maltese player stepped up her game in the final when posting scores of 159, 202, and 192 to finish in second place with 1,652.
Bonanno was then up against Dutch player Rianne Van Zijp, the Dutch girl won the play-off 193-162 to place second ahead of Bonanno how had to settle for bronze.
In the Juniors Category E, Raquel Xuereb made it through to the Final Step 1 after a qualifying score of 1,092 pins.
In the final, Raquel Xuereb compiled solid scores of 202, 187 and 191 to finish with 1,672 and finish third in the standings.
The gold medal was won by Bianca Brommer, of the Netherlands, who amassed 1,775.
Raquel Xuereb was also involved in the play-off for the silver medal with Sofie Rasmussen and had to settle for bronze as the Danish player won the match 228-189.
Matthew Magro also took part in the competition when he played in the Schoolers category but failed to make it to the finals when placing ninth out of 35 bowlers.
