The Bishops of Malta and Gozo have written to Mgr Paul Darmanin, Bishop of Garissa, expressing their sorrow over the attack on two churches in his diocese yesterday, killing 16 people.

Archbishop Paul Cremona and Bishop Mario Grech said this attack had come just days after Malta celebrated the appointment of Fr Joe Allessandro as coadjutor bishop of Garissa.

They assured Mgr Darmanin of the prayers of the Maltese faithful.

No Maltese were injured in yesterday's attacks.
