In the last major road accident involving Maltese people in Sicily, two Italian men died in August 2013 when their motorcycle was involved in a head-on crash with the Maltese tourists’ car on the Trapani-Marsala road. The accident occurred at a junction, when the driver of the Honda Accord car was reportedly preparing to turn towards a Carrefour store.
Meanwhile, in Malta, the police are on the lookout for three men who ran away from the scene after their car hit a pedestrian in Dragonara Road, St Julian’s.
The victim, a 33-year-old man from Sliema, was grievously injured. The men abandoned the car, a white Fiat Punto, and ran off. The police believe they are foreign.
