A Maltese-designed baton was handed over at an EU Chief of Defence staff meeting which marked a change of command.

Swedish General Håkan Syrén, the outgoing chairman of the EU Military Committee, handed over command to French Air Force General Patrick de Rousiers.

The handing over was symbolised by the presentation of a baton designed by AFM Sergeant Amadeo Galea currently seconded to the EU Military Staff. It was   manufactured by AFM personnel at the Maritime Squadron.

The blue baton is adorned with12 stars.

Gen de Rousieres will be at the helm of the EU Military Committee for the next three years.
