Patrick Scicluna has been chosen by the United Nation to exhibit a series of his paitnings at the Palais de Nations in Geneva. The exhibition called ‘Changing Rooms’ will be held between March24 and April8. It will feature the artist’s exploration of a number of issues important in today’s world, as seen from a child’s perspective.

‘Changing Rooms’ is a series of 18 painting in oil on canvas and acrylic on canvas. The works depict a set of rooms that echo the outside world. As one moves from one room to the next viewers discover what’s inside juxtaposed by what is not contained in the room that has only three walls. Each room represents a habitat that reflects the state of our world today and themes explored include hunger, poverty, abuse and neglect, equality, peace and security, war and human rights. The beauty of the exhibition reaches a climax in the final painting, where different themes come together in one room and diversity becomes unity.

Born in 1972 Patrick Scicluna is mostly a self-taught artist who is continuously researching, experimenting and enquiring about children’s energy and enthusiasm. He undertook art classes under the tutorship of Ray Pitre’ between 1997 and 2002 and more recently between 2007 and 2008. He also studied nudes with the guidance of Anton Calleja. He has exhibited his work in 1999, 2008 and 2010 and took part in a collective exhibition “Unity Diversity” At De La Salle Palace in Valletta in May 2010.
