Malta is currently taking part in this year’s annual Bürgerfest, hosted by the German Federal President Gauck in Berlin, Germany.

Core team members Alessandro Giuliano and Jenny-Lynn Zammit, from the President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society, are in Germany showcasing the foundation’s work.

The massive event, opened to the public today, is held over two days and has attracted over 4,000 invitees distinguished for their civil society activities.

More than 15,000 people attended so far and Malta’s stand has even been visited by the German President Joachim Gauck.

The primary aim of the festival is to honour German citizens who contributed through voluntary work to society Germany, and demonstrate the great social commitment of companies, communities, and organisations in different sectors.

One or two foreign countries are invited to take part and present their own civic initiatives each year.

The overall focus of the Bürgerfest is voluntary work.
