The Maltese government will be submitting the ftira (flattened sourdough bread) and its 'culinary art' to be part of the Unesco intangible cultural heritage list, Justice and Culture Minister Owen Bonnici said on Tuesday.

He said this was part of the government's strategy to promote Maltese culture on an international and national level.

Such recognition, he said, would lead to greater pride in Malta's intangible cultural heritage whilst tourists would be able to experience more of Malta's different facets.
