In a friendly international played at the Apple Snooker Club last weekend, a team of three Maltese youths beat their counterparts from Ireland 5-2.

Thurston Grixti, Shaun Sultana and Wayne Pace played for the local side while Andrew Doherty, Dylan Scully and Ross Doyle represented Ireland.

Sultana won the first frame against Doyle 80-26 but lost to Scully 38-78 as Pace won both his frames, against Scully 45-17 and Doherty 76-33.

Grixti opened with a good win against Doherty 71-17 but lost to Doyle 17-58. Grixti then sealed victory for his team by winning the seventh frame with a comfortable margin against Scully 72-9. He also managed a break of 47.

Emmanuel Fiott was the match referee.
