Malta and the United Arab Emirates have signed a cooperation agreement on drug trafficking and organised crime.

Consultation talks were held at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi to facilitate visa formalities, particularly for Maltese living in the UAE.

Visitors from the Gulf will, as from January 21, be able to have their visa applications processed by VFS GCC, a company providing related services from offices located in Riyadh, Al Khobar, Dammam, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Bahrain, Doha and Muscat.

In terms of an agreement with the government, VFS GCC is obliged to promote Malta and its attractions from its locations and to provide a dedicated website with information about Malta.

The agreement was signed by Ambassador Godwin Montanaro and his counterpart Alsari Saeed Ahmed Aldahari in Riyadh and provides a framework to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
