The Malta U-17 team beat the England Colleges FA U-18 National Team 5-3 in their opening match from the Roma Caput Mundi tournament this afternoon.

Led by Argentine coach Sergio Soldano, Malta raced into a 5-0 lead with goals from Christian Degabriele, who scored a brace, Aidan Friggieri, Jake Grech and Kieran Nwoko.

The English youngsters made a late reaction, scoring three times in the final 25 minutes.

Malta take on Italy's U-18 amateur selection (Lega Nazionale Dilettanti) tomorrow before concluding their group commitments against San Marino.
